If it is squishy, high tech and moves, it is probably Soft Robotics!
Me and my team are pushing the boundaries of this particular actuation technology. In the process of doing so, I am learning a lot about design, programming, manufacturing and physics. I also get to design and build innovative soft robots and fly all over the world to meet and inspire more people with them!
Yes, that's true. My days are spent imagining, designing, fabricating, testing, breaking, learning and improving. And they pay me for it, isn't that awesome?
My advisor is Prof. Pedro Neto. He runs the Collaborative Robotics Laboratory over at the University of Coimbra. He is a very nice person, but what else would you expect me to say? I guess you will have to visit us to find out for yourself!
I work in Coimbra, a city known for being home to one of the oldest universities in the world. Industry is lacking though, so why don't you pack up and come over to start your next venture here? We have a sprouting startup scene and a renowned business incubator.
You won't find me home on a sunny weekend afternoon. I like walking in nature, drinking coffee with a good view, going on spontaneous road trips with friends, and building stuff.
I need my silence. It allows me to think, process and imagine stuff that will definitely not work on the 1st try. They will work on the 3rd though, and it will be awesome!
I like to brainstorm while walking and birdwatching at a nearby forest. I've always had a fascination with flying machines, and my once best friend loved birds. Well, I guess it stuck with me.
You may find me monitoring emails on a Saturday. But unless the Lab is burning or the credit card was stolen, don't expect a reply until Monday.
I get lost listening to many flavours of rock, symphonic metal, classics from the romantic era and baroque... Oh don't get me started on baroque. Some of it aged better than wine!
